<h3>Abstract</h3>

<p align="justified">The present paper stresses the emergence of the concept of Sustainable Architecture, the 
need to evaluate the environmental sustainability of  Green Buildings, and the 
characteristics of five methods for evaluation the  environmental performance of these 
buildings: LEED; BREEAM; GBC; NABERS; and Green Globes. Through the analysis 
of such methods, it is possible to verify that the regional specificities are not  always 
taken into account, being necessary to develop a more adherent method to deal with the 
local reality.</P>
